Best time to visit

  • Spring (September to November) is a fantastic time to visit Australia, with mild temperatures and blooming flowers. It's perfect for outdoor activities like hiking, wildlife watching, and visiting national parks. August - October is also good for whale watching
  • Summer (December to February) is the peak season, especially in coastal areas and popular destinations like Sydney, Melbourne, and the Great Barrier Reef. Expect hot temperatures, vibrant beach culture, and outdoor festivals and events. It's ideal for beach vacations, snorkelling, and diving
  • Autumn (March to May) has mild temperatures and fewer crowds compared to the summer months. It's perfect for exploring cities, wine regions, and national parks. From April to July (sometimes stretch from March to August) you can encounter whale sharks in Exmouth or Coral Bay
  • Winter (June to August) is the low tourist season with cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. It's perfect for visiting the Outback, exploring Tasmania, and enjoying winter sports in the Snowy Mountains

Good to know

  • Koalas get stressed during selfie and cuddle encounters. We urge travellers to avoid establishments that offer such activities, even if they claim to be conservation-focused and ethical
  • Avoid swimming in the sea during dawn and dusk when it is the active feeding time for sharks. Remember, sharks live in the ocean, and we are mere visitors; Australia has a rich cultural heritage. Take the time to learn about the Indigenous history, culture, and traditions
  • Glow worms are larvae of a primitive fly, the fungus gnat. The blue lights they emit are used to lure prey. They are found only in Australia and New Zealand, making this a unique experience
  • Make sure to wear reef-safe sunscreen when doing water sports/snorkelling in Australia
