Best time to go

  • December to March & July to August are the dry seasons and are generally considered the best times to visit Colombia. The weather is typically sunny and warm, making it perfect for exploring cities, beaches, and outdoor activities
  • April to June & September to November are considered the shoulder seasons in Colombia, with occasional rain showers. While there may be some rainfall, it's still a great time to visit, as crowds are smaller, prices are lower, and the landscapes are lush and green

Good things to know

  • The currency is the Colombian Peso (COP)
  • Colombia is one of the world’s megadiverse countries: from the Andes to the plains, from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea, it has 314 types of ecosystems, and is ranked #1 globally for bird and orchid diversity
  • Checkpoints are common in rural areas, so make sure you have your IDs handy
  • Colombia has a very progressive attitude toward LGBTIQ+ rights in Latin America
