Travel guide: Thailand πΉπ
Best time to go and Good things to know
Best time to go
- The best time to visit Thailand is during the dry season, which runs from November to April. This period offers sunny weather and lower humidity, making it perfect for beach vacations and outdoor activities
- The rainy season, from May to October, brings heavy rains and high humidity, but it can also be a good time to visit with fewer crowds if you don't mind occasional showers
Good things to know
- The currency is the Thai Baht (THB)
- Elephant sanctuaries are popular in Thailand; however, many of them are anything but ethical and have subjected elephants to continued beating at a young age so that their spirit is broken, and thatβs how they can tolerate continued interaction with tourists. You should never be able to bathe, ride, or get very close to an elephant. Please be mindful that some sanctuaries adopt a very similar name to ethical and well-known sanctuaries to make it hard for customers to discern the difference.
- Check for recommended vaccines before travel. Please be aware that some vaccines can take multiple months to complete the course
- Booking ahead during peak season is recommended
- Dress conservatively when visiting Buddhist temples. You may need to remove your footwear before entering these temples
- Sometimes seafood can be marked as vegetarian-friendly on the menu
- There is a heightened kidnapping risk, esp. for Chinese and Asian ethnicities. Be aware when travelling around border regions, especially those bordering Burma. Do not believe business opportunities that sound too good to be true.
